In the Social Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience articles published in 2016, they found that self-affirmation activates the brain systems.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>These brain systems that are activated when self-affirming occurs are related to reward self-related processing.<sup class=\"fn\" data-fn=\"f92b3a55-4bc6-46bc-b051-2402cbbbd7ce\"><a id=\"f92b3a55-4bc6-46bc-b051-2402cbbbd7ce-link\" href=\"#f92b3a55-4bc6-46bc-b051-2402cbbbd7ce\">3<\/a><\/sup><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other studies, such as the one conducted through Health Psychology, found that when one completes affirmations, they increase health-promoting behavior without anything else changing. <sup class=\"fn\" data-fn=\"426ac928-bff8-4c74-b9dc-ffae656bd90f\"><a id=\"426ac928-bff8-4c74-b9dc-ffae656bd90f-link\" href=\"#426ac928-bff8-4c74-b9dc-ffae656bd90f\">4<\/a><\/sup><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the National Academy of Sciences, they confirmed just this. They found that affirmations change the brain&#8217;s response to health messages and result in behavior change. <sup class=\"fn\" data-fn=\"d632bb1d-f0d2-412c-896f-ced0b4ede327\"><a id=\"d632bb1d-f0d2-412c-896f-ced0b4ede327-link\" href=\"#d632bb1d-f0d2-412c-896f-ced0b4ede327\">5<\/a><\/sup><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Social psychologist studies confirmed that affirmations approve stress, academic performance, and insecurity. <sup class=\"fn\" data-fn=\"b0e0b00d-d3ef-483d-b539-4787f89fda3b\"><a id=\"b0e0b00d-d3ef-483d-b539-4787f89fda3b-link\" href=\"#b0e0b00d-d3ef-483d-b539-4787f89fda3b\">6<\/a><\/sup><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What does all this science mean?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Simply put, science shows when Affirmations are implemented into the self-help journey, your brain changes and the result is equivalent to the affirmations that you&#8217;ve listened to.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scientists call this the Self-Affirmation Theory.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;<em>Self-affirmation theory is a psychological theory that focuses on how individuals adapt to information or experiences that are threatening to their<\/em> self-concept.&#8221;&nbsp;<sup class=\"fn\" data-fn=\"92ae1b20-2bcb-443e-8af4-afb7022e5fc4\"><a id=\"92ae1b20-2bcb-443e-8af4-afb7022e5fc4-link\" href=\"#92ae1b20-2bcb-443e-8af4-afb7022e5fc4\">7<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n<cite>Claude Steele- Self Affirmation Theory<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Affirmations play an important role in the self-improvement journey because they are a tool that will help you alter your life for the better.<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Affirmations can be used in multiple ways.
